PITTSBURGH … Power Management Company Eaton announces a new line of airport lighting Constant Current Regulators designed to provide precision control of runway lighting circuits. The Crouse-Hinds® series Pro Power Essential Constant Current Regulators help convert utility power into uniform and continuous output, enabling airport operators to improve airfield safety and illumination quality while reducing energy costs and maintenance requirements.
“Eaton is committed to helping airfields lower operating costs and labor expenses by providing the best quality lighting, power and control products,” said Lisa Sheelan, Associate Product Line Manager at Eaton. “Our airfield lighting solutions are designed to support maintenance-free performance while delivering extended equipment lifecycles and optimized power output, so operators can focus investments on keeping their airports running safely and efficiently.”
Eaton’s Crouse-Hinds series Pro Power Essential Constant Current Regulators are designed for installation in the airfield vault. The regulators use a ferroresonant core designed to create a cleaner sine wave and lower harmonic distortion to improve power line communication and prolong the life of incandescent and LED lamps and signs on the circuit.
Additionally, the Pro Power Constant Current Regulators enable a near perfect 0.99 Power Factor to reduce electrical losses while integrated air-cooling mitigates the need for additional heat management equipment. For improved power system management, the units provide full control and monitoring functionality, including onboard L-829 capabilities
To reduce the overall footprint of power distribution equipment, the current regulators feature a stackable design. For reduced labor, the regulators can be fork lifted from the front or back of the enclosure and provide easy access to capacitor banks for simplified maintenance.

Fairbanks International Airport Baggage Transport Conveyor Enhanced With Mod Drive™ System
Airports face a host of unique industry challenges, such as meeting efficiency regulations and seeking out the best maintenance practices to reduce costs and keep operations flowing. In today’s current economic climate, any potential cost savings can go a long way.
In 2019, Alaska’s Fairbanks International Airport (FAI) sought to modernize its equipment and operations. They were dissatisfied with the performance of the gearmotors on their baggage transport conveyors and began searching for new suppliers. Regal approached FAI with a solution that could improve equipment performance and simplify maintenance, with the added benefit of energy cost savings: the Hub City® MOD Drive™ system.
