Pre-security travelers can now enjoy brews from Savannah’s first production microbrewery
SAVANNAH, GA —Global restaurateur HMSHost’s addition of Southbound Taphouse to Savannah Hilton/Head International Airport is giving travelers of Georgia’s oldest city a taste of its first production microbrewery. HMSHost and partner S&C Robinson Enterprise, Savannah/Hilton Head International Airport, and Southbound Brewing Company celebrated this new pre-security restaurant with a ribbon cutting, ceremonial cask tapping of Hop'lin IPA with fresh pineapple, and a live musical performance.
“HMSHost and the Savannah Airport Commission had a goal to open a new, exciting, local option in Savannah/Hilton Head International Airport and Southbound Taphouse does exactly that. Along with S&C Robinson Enterprise, HMSHost is very proud to welcome guests into this special restaurant,” said HMSHost Vice President of Business Development Kent Vanden Oever. “The Southbound Brewing Company brand represents Savannah’s thriving social culture and we thank the Commission for the opportunity to give travelers this unique experience.”
Southbound Brewing Company launched in May 2013 to bring the American craft beer revolution to Savannah. With the opening of Southbound Taphouse, HMSHost is giving travelers and Airport visitors access to the first restaurant to bear the Southbound name. The restaurant also builds on an existing relationship between HMSHost and the popular local brewery that started in 2015 when HMSHost began selling Southbound’s flavorful brews at restaurants in the Airport. Diners visiting will find on-trend American cuisine with items such as waffle fries, chili con carne, a black & bleu stack burger, and an ancho grilled chicken breast entrée. Signature Southbound brews on tap include Scattered Sun Belgian Wit, Shakedown Street Saison, Hop’Lin IPA, and a rotating seasonal selection. Color-coded hops on the menu make it a snap to pair the proper brew with a meal.
“We are very pleased to see the opening of the Southbound Taphouse here at our airport,” said Airport Executive Director Greg Kelly. He continued, “We have been working with our food and beverage concession partner HMSHost for the past couple of years to include local businesses as part of its reinvestment program. We appreciate the efforts of HMSHost and the team from Southbound to accomplish this goal.”
Southbound Brewing Company is well-known for its many popular brews and trendy label artwork, but the company is also regarded for constant community involvement with frequent events at the brewery ranging from trivia, to yoga, to concerts, and special tastings. Taking cues from the brewery’s décor and reputation for hosting fun, casual gatherings, Southbound Taphouse features pool tables, an event board so that travelers can see the brewery’s schedule, a hand-painted mural, and artwork to tell the company’s story.

Fairbanks International Airport Baggage Transport Conveyor Enhanced With Mod Drive™ System
Airports face a host of unique industry challenges, such as meeting efficiency regulations and seeking out the best maintenance practices to reduce costs and keep operations flowing. In today’s current economic climate, any potential cost savings can go a long way.
In 2019, Alaska’s Fairbanks International Airport (FAI) sought to modernize its equipment and operations. They were dissatisfied with the performance of the gearmotors on their baggage transport conveyors and began searching for new suppliers. Regal approached FAI with a solution that could improve equipment performance and simplify maintenance, with the added benefit of energy cost savings: the Hub City® MOD Drive™ system.
