New Carrier & Flight Adds Timesaving, Convenient Global Reach to/from the San Francisco Bay
Oakland, CA: (March 28, 2017) – Today, with welcome from Oakland Mayor Libby Schaaf and Port of Oakland Board of Commissioners President Michael Colbruno, British Airways commenced operations at Oakland International Airport (OAK). The new operation is its third destination in the San Francisco Bay Area and fifth in the state of California.
The new service will make British Airways, a unit of International Airlines Group (IAG), the only European airline to operate from all three Bay Area airports. British Airways service is further evidence of the growth of OAK’s international air service portfolio, which has surged in recent years. Bay Area and U.K. travelers have responded convincingly to the new service, as it further strengthens ties between these two strong business and leisure destinations.
British Airways’ selection of Oakland as home of its most recent Bay Area operation was bolstered by the recent announcement that Oakland will also be the first and only Bay Area Airport to host LEVEL, a new low-cost carrier being launched by British Airways’ parent company, IAG. Service from OAK to Barcelona will commence on LEVEL in June 2017.
Beginning today, the newest London Gatwick-Oakland route will operate four days a week, accommodating up to 275 customers across a three-cabin Boeing 777-200LR aircraft. Travelers in British Airways’ Club World business class and/or with qualifying British Airways and “Oneworld” elite status are invited to use the Airport’s new Escape Lounge prior to departure. The lounge opened in November; also operated by a British company, Manchester Airports Group (MAG USA).
Port of Oakland Director of Aviation, Bryant L. Francis stated, “Today’s announcement is one that we make with a great deal of excitement. Bringing British Airways to Oakland is not only a major advancement for the Airport, but also for the entire East Bay and Wine Country. The airport has enjoyed over three consecutive years of passenger traffic growth, including the additional of several new domestic and international destinations as well as new airlines, such as British Airways. This expanded service to the top European destination reflects the ever increasing opportunities and convenience available for travelers to and from Oakland and the Bay Area at large.”

PAVIX: Proven Winner for All Airport Concrete Infrastructure
International Chem-Crete Corporation (ICC) manufactures and sells PAVIX, a unique line of crystalline waterproofing products that penetrate into the surface of cured concrete to fill and seal pores and capillary voids, creating a long lasting protective zone within the concrete substrate.
Once concrete is treated, water is prevented from penetrating through this protective zone and causing associated damage, such as freeze-thaw cracking, reinforcing steel corrosion, chloride ion penetration, and ASR related cracking.
This white paper discusses how the PAVIX CCC100 technology works and its applications.
