TransSolutions is pleased to announce the firm is now federally-certified as a Woman-owned Small Business (WOSB) by the National Women Business Owners Corporation. This accreditation will allow the 18-year-old firm that focuses on conceptual design and operations logistics consulting to pursue federal contracts that have specific WOSB participation goals and requirements.
Implemented in February 2011, the goal of the WOSB Federal Contract Program is to streamline the certification process to increase the ability of women business owners to compete effectively for government contracts at a national level. This resulted from a study that revealed the public sector had not realized the best-value benefits of contracting with women suppliers.
"Certification provides an opportunity for women business enterprises such as ours to develop relationships and create opportunities for future partnerships with the public sector," said Gloria G. Bender, Managing Principal and one of the firm’s Co-owners and Co-founders.
In 2015, the U.S. Department of Commerce reviewed the WOSB Federal Contracting Program and identified the NAICS industry groups in which WOSBs are substantially underrepresented. As a result, SBA expanded opportunities for WOSBs to pursue set-aside and sole-source federal contracts in 92 NAICS industry groups.
TransSolutions is certified for participation in the following five NAICS codes:
541330 – Engineering Services
541611 – Administrative Management & General Management Consulting Services
541614 – Process, Physical Distribution, & Logistics Consulting Services
541990 – All Other Professional, Scientific, & Technical Services
561990 – All Other Support Services
“While we’ve long-held DBE and SBE certifications in many states, the WOSB certification now allows us to compete for WOSB set-asides or receive sole-source awards,” said Belinda G. Hargrove, Managing Principal and another of TransSolutions’ Co-owners/Co-founders.

Fairbanks International Airport Baggage Transport Conveyor Enhanced With Mod Drive™ System
Airports face a host of unique industry challenges, such as meeting efficiency regulations and seeking out the best maintenance practices to reduce costs and keep operations flowing. In today’s current economic climate, any potential cost savings can go a long way.
In 2019, Alaska’s Fairbanks International Airport (FAI) sought to modernize its equipment and operations. They were dissatisfied with the performance of the gearmotors on their baggage transport conveyors and began searching for new suppliers. Regal approached FAI with a solution that could improve equipment performance and simplify maintenance, with the added benefit of energy cost savings: the Hub City® MOD Drive™ system.
