July 2017 Was The Busiest Month Ever for BWI Marshall With More Than 2.5 Million Passengers
Maryland Governor Larry Hogan today announced that 2,533,582 commercial passengers flew through Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport in July 2017. Passenger traffic for the month increased 5.4 percent over July 2016 for a new all-time monthly record for BWI Marshall.
July 2017 was the 25th-straight monthly passenger record for the airport. It was the first time that more than 2.5 million passengers traveled through BWI Marshall in a single month.
“BWI Marshall Airport is an important international gateway that supports travel, trade, and business development,” said Governor Hogan. “With its consistent success and record-setting growth, BWI Marshall continues to link the State of Maryland with the global economy.”
BWI Marshall Airport remains the busiest airport in the region. Following a new all-time annual passenger record in 2016, the airport continues to grow with new airlines and flights to new markets. BWI Marshall Airport now offers service to nearly 90 domestic and international destinations. Passenger traffic in July increased for a number of BWI Marshall airlines, including: Air Canada, Alaska Airlines, Allegiant Air, Condor, Delta Air Lines, Southwest Airlines, and Spirit Airlines.
“We thank our travelers, who continue to respond to the excellent customer service, new airline service, and affordable airfares widely available here at BWI Marshall Airport,” said Ricky Smith, Executive Director of BWI Marshall Airport. “We are committed to a first-class travel experience for our passengers.”
