GREENVILLE, Wis., Dec. 1, 2017 - Appleton International Airport began construction on its customer experience improvement project Dec. 1. The upgrade will include a Transportation Security Administration checkpoint expansion, new restaurant and gift shop, conference room, mother's room, ticket counters, baggage claim and customer service center to elevate the customer experience for passengers using the airport terminal.
"Since 2012, we've had a nearly 30 percent increase in passengers using our terminal," said Abe Weber, airport director. "The last two years we've added an airline, added a nonstop destination, increased flights and added larger aircraft. All of this growth is because our community supports Appleton Airport."
The customer experience improvement project is part of Appleton International Airport's mission to provide the best customer experience for travelers in northeast Wisconsin. Other recent airport improvements include Platinum Flight Center completed in 2013, a U.S. Customs station completed in 2016 and a new rental car facility completed in 2017. All of the improvements incorporate Appleton International Airport's design standards to create a unified campus feel.
The terminal upgrades won't affect holiday travel.
The terminal upgrade project is funded by a mix of federal and state aid and airport funds and is expected to be completed by July 2018.
Fairbanks International Airport Baggage Transport Conveyor Enhanced With Mod Drive™ System
Airports face a host of unique industry challenges, such as meeting efficiency regulations and seeking out the best maintenance practices to reduce costs and keep operations flowing. In today’s current economic climate, any potential cost savings can go a long way.
In 2019, Alaska’s Fairbanks International Airport (FAI) sought to modernize its equipment and operations. They were dissatisfied with the performance of the gearmotors on their baggage transport conveyors and began searching for new suppliers. Regal approached FAI with a solution that could improve equipment performance and simplify maintenance, with the added benefit of energy cost savings: the Hub City® MOD Drive™ system.
