Fresno, CA (November 28, 2015) - Fresno Yosemite International Airport
invites the community to kick off the holidays at the Airport's annual open
house. This year's celebrated theme, a "Gingerbread Winter Wonderland,"
features the Valley's largest gingerbread village, a twelve foot handmade
display, and the traditional lighting of the trees in the Airport's holiday
decorated lobby. The open house on Thursday, December 3, 6:30 p.m. will
include live entertainment with the University High School Flute Choir and
caroling by the Roosevelt School of Arts Choir, a special guest appearance
by the Gingerbread Man and company, and holiday photos. Complimentary
parking will be provided with validation.
Master Pastry Chef Willem Bezemer and the chefs and students of the
Institute of Technology Culinary School have transformed a holiday tradition
into a magnificent handcrafted village featuring famous landmarks from
around the world such as the Eiffel Tower and the St Petersburg Cathedral
and Fresno landmarks such as the Water Tower and downtown's historic
Armenian Church. A total of 300 hours was dedicated to create the Fresno
Airport's first gingerbread village with each structure prepared using the
traditional ingredients of butter, sugar and flour plus Chef Bezemer's
secret recipe and beautifully crafted royal icing trimmings.
This holiday season the Fresno Airport is honored to collaborate with Big
Brothers Big Sisters of Central California to support a toy drive throughout
the month of December. The community is encouraged to bring an unwrapped new
gift to the December 3 event for a child ages 6-14 to benefit the children
of Big Brothers Big Sisters. Representatives will be available throughout
the evening to share information about the organization and volunteer
opportunities.
"The Fresno Airport is excited to have partnered with the Institute of
Technology Culinary School to create a unique holiday display for the
community to enjoy as well as to welcome travelers throughout the season,"
said Director of Aviation Kevin Meikle. "Partnering with the Big Brothers
Big Sisters toy drive has given us the opportunity to help an organization
that has done so much for the youth in our community."

Fairbanks International Airport Baggage Transport Conveyor Enhanced With Mod Drive™ System
Airports face a host of unique industry challenges, such as meeting efficiency regulations and seeking out the best maintenance practices to reduce costs and keep operations flowing. In today’s current economic climate, any potential cost savings can go a long way.
In 2019, Alaska’s Fairbanks International Airport (FAI) sought to modernize its equipment and operations. They were dissatisfied with the performance of the gearmotors on their baggage transport conveyors and began searching for new suppliers. Regal approached FAI with a solution that could improve equipment performance and simplify maintenance, with the added benefit of energy cost savings: the Hub City® MOD Drive™ system.
This white paper discusses the hardware deployed, the test results and the annualized expectations for ROI.
