25-year veteran leads newly created function for Reagan National,
Dulles International
The Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority announced Friday that longtime manager Richard Golinowski has been named vice president of operations support, leading a recently created function to enhance and streamline operations of Reagan National and Dulles International airports.
Golinowski brings more than three decades of engineering and operational leadership to the position, including the last 25 in various roles with the Airports Authority. In his new role, Golinowski will oversee a team that focuses on providing creative solutions and data-driven research to supplement the day-to-day operations in running two airports in the nation’s capital. In addition, the department focuses on facilitating joint projects between Reagan National and Dulles International and acting as a conduit for new ideas on staffing, asset management and emerging issues within the aviation industry.
“Richard’s wealth of experience and institutional knowledge of the Airports Authority going back many years make him an excellent fit for this new and important role as a cornerstone of our operational structure,” said Jack Potter, president and chief executive officer for the Airports Authority. “His skills, background and management expertise will serve us well as we strive to continually enhance our organizational efficiency and service to customers.”
After earning an engineering degree from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University in 1987, Golinowski served in a number of engineering roles with companies Acquisition Dynamics, Inc. and Law Engineering, before joining the Airports Authority’s engineering and maintenance department in 1995. From there, he served in various positions within the department, assuming a managerial role at Reagan National Airport in 2006, where for the past 13 years, he has led a team of more than 200 in the daily operation and maintenance of the airport. He was named acting vice president of the Airports Authority’s newly created Operations Support function in February 2019.
“I look forward to tackling head-on the challenges faced by the operational units of the Authority,” Golinowski said. “I am honored to be working with such a talented team to help lead the Airports Authority into the future.”
