LOUISVILLE, KY (March 5, 2019) – On Thursday, February 28 Allegiant Air celebrated new seasonal nonstop service between Louisville Muhammad Ali International Airport (SDF) and Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport (MSY). The service runs now through Sunday, May 5. Nonstop flights to New Orleans will be offered twice weekly on Sundays and Thursdays using a 180-seat Airbus A320.
“This service is wonderful because it allows travelers to experience the excitement of Mardi Gras and the Kentucky Derby,” said Dan Mann, Executive Director of the Louisville Regional Airport Authority.
Due to popular demand, Allegiant has announced that the New Orleans seasonal service will resume in October 2019 and continue through May 2020.
“When this service was initially announced to fly from February through May, we hoped that it would eventually become year-round,” said Mann. “Weeks before the first departure, sales have been strong enough for Allegiant to extend next year’s season. This route is another great win for Louisville.”
With this announcement, Allegiant Air offers nine destinations from Louisville and as many as 25 weekly departures to 10 destinations from Louisville including Orlando Sanford, St. Petersburg/Clearwater, Fort Lauderdale, Punta Gorda, Myrtle Beach, Savannah, Fort Walton Beach and Las Vegas. Tickets are now available at www.AllegiantAir.com.
Louisville Muhammad Ali International Airport is served by six airlines offering flights to 33 nonstop destinations including 19 of the region’s top 20 domestic markets. With just one stop, travelers from across the region can reach more than 460 destinations in the U.S. and worldwide.
