Certificate of Achievement Received for Second Year in a Row
BIRMINGHAM, ALABAMA, October 18, 2019 – The Birmingham Airport Authority is pleased to announce it has been awarded the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for the second year in a row by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada for its comprehensive annual financial report.
The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management, according to the Government Finance Officers Association.
“The Birmingham Airport Authority’s comprehensive annual financial report is an important instrument we use in maintaining accountability and financial transparency with the community and our stakeholders,” said Ronald Mathieu, Birmingham Airport Authority’s President and CEO. “Our finance department diligently works to ensure that we produce high-quality and transparent financial reports. We are pleased to be recognized by the Government Finance Officers Association with this significant award.”
According to the Government Finance Officers Association, the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting Program was established in 1945 to encourage state and local governments to go beyond the minimum requirements of generally accepted accounting principles and then recognize individual governments that succeed in achieving that goal.
