Procurement veteran brings more than 30 years of experience to new role
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (August 17, 2021) - The Birmingham Airport Authority is pleased to announce Eduardo Seoane as its new Vice President of Purchasing. Mr. Seoane brings more than 30 years of experience in global purchasing and logistics to his new position with the Birmingham Airport Authority, which oversees the operations at Birmingham-Shuttlesworth International Airport. In his new role, Mr. Seoane will join the Authority’s executive leadership team and lead the operations of the newly created Purchasing department, which is responsible for managing the Authority’s purchasing, bidding, and procurement services. In addition, the department will also administer the Authority’s disadvantage business enterprise program.

Mathieu, Birmingham Airport Authority President and CEO. “His leadership will complement our team as we continue our mission of operating a safe, efficient, hospitable, and state-of-the-art airport that promotes a healthy economy and travel environment.”
Prior to joining the Birmingham Airport Authority, Seoane was the Strategic Sourcing Manager - Indirect at Austal USA in Mobile where he oversaw their indirect purchasing with a total purchase work of $24 million. Previously, he was Director of Procurement with LMS Shipmanagement where he led and managed their Purchasing Department and was responsible for annual savings of over $1 million.
“Flying and airports have always fascinated me,” said Seoane. “I am very grateful to be given the opportunity to apply my knowledge and experience to the new role of Vice President of Purchasing for the Birmingham Airport Authority.”
Seoane holds a Bachelor of Arts degree and a Master of Business Administration degree from Xavier University in Cincinnati, Ohio. Seoane also is a certified professional in supply management.
