Lake Geneva, WI - Aqua Blaster, a patented fire hose harness which enables a single firefighter to advance and maneuver a nozzle equipped fire hose, is now available for sale to airports, the manufacturer announced today.
Because of its unique design, a firefighter’s torso and lower body strength give enhanced control of the fire hose and nozzle, says Mark Schafer, of Custom Elite Manufacturing LLC, which manufactures and distributes the product. This product is perfect for all size airports – from general aviation facilities to large commercial airports.
“There had to be an easier way to operate a charged fire hose and reduce fatigue and potential for injuries,” says Ken Blocker, firefighter and Aqua Blaster inventor. “After many trials and designs I developed the Aqua Blaster.”
The firehose can be maneuvered hands free which allows for a more balanced attack onto a fire. The user can then brace themselves while walking or advancing the hose. The stream can be directed left to right, up or down and locked in position. Schafer says Aqua Blaster reduces user fatigue and chronic injuries because of the equipment’s torso-supported design.
“We have been excited to work with Ken Blocker to refine, test, manufacture and bring to market the Aqua Blaster,” says Schafer. “The Aqua Blaster is a valuable tool for airport firefighters and reduces the risk of injury.”
The Aqua Blaster will accept any 1 ½” nozzle (not provided) and is suitable for all airport firefighting uses. Visit www.aquablaster.co for additional information.
Fairbanks International Airport Baggage Transport Conveyor Enhanced With Mod Drive™ System
Airports face a host of unique industry challenges, such as meeting efficiency regulations and seeking out the best maintenance practices to reduce costs and keep operations flowing. In today’s current economic climate, any potential cost savings can go a long way.
In 2019, Alaska’s Fairbanks International Airport (FAI) sought to modernize its equipment and operations. They were dissatisfied with the performance of the gearmotors on their baggage transport conveyors and began searching for new suppliers. Regal approached FAI with a solution that could improve equipment performance and simplify maintenance, with the added benefit of energy cost savings: the Hub City® MOD Drive™ system.
