Milwaukee Mitchell Airport breaks all-time local passenger record in February
MILWAUKEE (August 2, 2018) – Passenger traffic at Milwaukee Mitchell International Airport rose more than three percent during the first half of 2018, compared to the previous year.
A total of 3,573,730 passengers chose MKE in the first half of 2018, compared to 3,469,425 during the same period in 2017, representing an increase of 3.01%.
“In fact, February 2018 broke a record for local passengers using MKE, surpassing the previous February peak in 2010 by more than two percent,” County Executive Chris Abele said. “It’s great for our community that more people are using MKE for their air travel.”
Local passenger statistics include all passengers except those transferring between flights. This key metric rose from the previous record of 518,280 in February 2010 to 528,701 in 2018.
“MKE offers more nonstop destinations and lower average fares than any airport in Wisconsin. We are proud to be the airport of choice for travelers in Wisconsin and northern Illinois,” Airport Director Brian Dranzik said. “Our continued strong passenger growth shows that more people are taking advantage of the wide variety of airlines, flights and competitive fares.”
Across all of MKE’s routes, airlines have filled 81% of their seats at MKE so far this year, up from 79% during the same period in 2017.
Mitchell Airport currently offers nonstop flights to 48 destinations coast-to-coast, and 160 international destinations are available from Milwaukee with just one connection. MKE is served by Air Canada, Alaska, Allegiant, American, Delta, Frontier, OneJet, Southwest, United, and Volaris. The complete list of nonstop cities can be found at mitchellairport.com.
General Mitchell International Airport is owned by Milwaukee County and operated by the Department of Transportation, Airport Division, under the policy direction of the Milwaukee County Executive and the County Board of Supervisors. The Airport is entirely funded by user fees; no property tax dollars are used for the Airport’s capital improvements or for its day-to-day operation.
PAVIX: Proven Winner for All Airport Concrete Infrastructure
International Chem-Crete Corporation (ICC) manufactures and sells PAVIX, a unique line of crystalline waterproofing products that penetrate into the surface of cured concrete to fill and seal pores and capillary voids, creating a long lasting protective zone within the concrete substrate.
Once concrete is treated, water is prevented from penetrating through this protective zone and causing associated damage, such as freeze-thaw cracking, reinforcing steel corrosion, chloride ion penetration, and ASR related cracking.
This white paper discusses how the PAVIX CCC100 technology works and its applications.
