SolarMax LED has installed new LED lighting in the Ontario Airport parking lots bringing safety and security to the travelers while also cutting down energy and maintenance costs by 60%.
[Ontario, CA] July 10, 2019: Ontario Airport parking lots and driveways have moved away from the traditional yellow-colored 400W High-Pressure Sodium (HPS) pole lights. In order to fulfill their promise of continuous development, the Ontario Airport Authority has taken the groundbreaking decision to replace those older styles lights with a next-generation LED lighting solution from SolarMax LED. The new development is providing a better customer experience while delivering a considerable amount of energy savings and reduction in maintenance costs.
SolarMax LED started the process by performing a comprehensive audit and data analysis of the existing lighting system in the Ontario Airport parking lots, followed by a turnkey customized lighting solution that covered everything from coordinated installation, permit processing, project management, and commissioning.
The new LED lights from SolarMax LED are brighter and more efficient. The 230W LED fixtures now provided nearly three times more light than the traditional lighting system while consuming just half the amount of energy. With the LED light’s much longer lifespan of up to 20 years, as opposed to just 3 years for the old HPS bulbs, the new lights emit a cleaner illumination and can ensure improved visual clarity for the airport travelers for the years to come.
In addition to these effective lighting solutions, the LED fixtures in the airport parking lots have also received a much needed technological upgrade as the new LED pole lights are now equipped with dimming sensors that dim the light’s brightness to half when people are not detected in the area for 30 minutes. The new lighting system will allow the Ontario Airport to further save power consumption during low traffic periods while retaining a minimum level of illumination required for their security cameras.
“The upgrade has changed the customer’s experience of the airport. They see this as another project that has created a great enhancement to our airport.” says Willie Edwards, Director of Customer Experience at Ontario International Airport Authority, “It really drives the loyalty of our customers.”
The Ontario Airport Authority has reported the following benefits from the lighting upgrades:
• Over 60% savings on electricity and maintenance costs
• Better, brighter light from LED bulbs that last 20 years
• Improved illumination uniformity and advanced light distribution
• A more environmentally friendly lighting solution
• Improved sense of security and enhanced customer experience
