ORLANDO, FL. – For the first time in Orlando International Airport (MCO) history, MCO is poised to become one of the ten busiest airports in the entire nation. The preliminary figures, from Airports Council International, indicate that Orlando International will register as the United States’ tenth busiest airport for 2018, up from the 11th position in 2017.
The jump into the top ten comes as MCO continues to experience monthly record breaking traffic and January was no exception. In January, passenger traffic increased by 5.4 percent overall, led by a nearly 16.5 percent increase in international travelers.
“We begin 2019 with a prestigious new standing for Orlando International in the aviation industry. For the first time ever, we are a top ten American airport,” says Phil Brown, Chief Executive Officer of the Greater Orlando Aviation Authority. “This milestone is only fitting, in light of our historic passenger growth and our ability to attract more international and domestic carriers and routes into the nation’s most visited destination.”

Fairbanks International Airport Baggage Transport Conveyor Enhanced With Mod Drive™ System
Airports face a host of unique industry challenges, such as meeting efficiency regulations and seeking out the best maintenance practices to reduce costs and keep operations flowing. In today’s current economic climate, any potential cost savings can go a long way.
In 2019, Alaska’s Fairbanks International Airport (FAI) sought to modernize its equipment and operations. They were dissatisfied with the performance of the gearmotors on their baggage transport conveyors and began searching for new suppliers. Regal approached FAI with a solution that could improve equipment performance and simplify maintenance, with the added benefit of energy cost savings: the Hub City® MOD Drive™ system.
