ORLANDO, FL. – Leaders at Orlando International Airport remain committed to maintaining a healthy and safe environment for the traveling public and employees alike. At this time, we continue the enhanced cleaning schedule that was previously enacted as a result of both COVID-19 concerns and the beginning of flu and cold season.
Below is updated information as it relates to operations at Orlando International:
Air Service
Today is the last day for operations of flights to and from the United Kingdom and Ireland before the expanded federal travel ban goes into effect. The ban, which originally focused on certain parts of Europe, was expanded at the end of last week.
Today’s schedule is as follows:
Aer Lingus Inbound flight, 8:25 p.m.; Outbound flight, 10:15 p.m.; Dublin
British Airways Inbound flight, 5:25 p.m.; Outbound flight, 7:25 p.m.; London
Virgin Atlantic Inbound flight, 5:25 p.m.; Outbound flight, 7:05 p.m.; London
Inbound flight, 4:05 p.m.; Outbound flight, 8:10 p.m.; Manchester
Norwegian Inbound flight, 8:25 p.m.; Outbound flight, 10:25 p.m.; London
Virgin Atlantic will be operating three outbound flights both Tuesday, March 17, and Wednesday, March 18, in an effort to assist people looking to leave. Estimated times for departure are 6:55 p.m., 7:05 p.m. and 8:05 p.m. each day.
As reported last week, air service between the 26 countries of the Schengen Area of Europe may be affected by the travel restrictions that began this weekend.
As of today, we have approximately 58 international flights canceled between March 15 and 22.
Passenger Screening
It was also announced last week that U.S. citizens and legal residents returning to the country will be required to be screened through one of 13 federally-approved airports. Orlando International Airport is not one.
Those airports include:
Boston-Logan International Airport (BOS), Massachusetts
Chicago O’Hare International Airport (ORD), Illinois
Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport (DFW), Texas
Detroit Metropolitan Airport (DTW), Michigan
Daniel K. Inouye International Airport (HNL), Hawaii
Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL), Georgia
John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK), New York
Los Angeles International Airport, (LAX), California
Miami International Airport (MIA), Florida
Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR), New Jersey
San Francisco International Airport (SFO), California
Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA), Washington
Washington-Dulles International Airport (IAD), Virginia
Concessions
At this time, airport concessionaires continue to operate as normal. Vendors have also taken measures to enhance their cleaning schedules to ensure customer safety and health
Ground Transportation
As tenants of Orlando International Airport, car rental companies continue to operate as normal. Taxi companies and other transportation-for-hire companies, such Uber and Lyft, are able to make operational decisions independent of the status of operations at Orlando International Airport. Inquiries for those companies should be directed to them. With the announced closure of Walt Disney World resorts beginning at 5 p.m. Friday, it is likely there will be a change in scheduling for the Disney Magic Express. No other information is available at this time regarding that service.
Next Steps
We will continue to monitor changes and work with airlines and federal agencies in handling operations for international passengers. This is a fluid situation and passengers are encouraged to check with their individual airlines regarding the status of their travel plans.
2022 Charlotte Douglas International Airport Report of Achievement
Giving back to the community is central to what Charlotte Douglas International Airport and its operator, the City of Charlotte Aviation Department, is about, and last year was no different.
Throughout 2022, while recovering from the COVID-19 pandemic, we continued our efforts to have a positive impact on the Charlotte community. Of particular note, we spent the year sharing stories of how Connections Don't Just Happen at the Terminal - from creating homeownership and employment opportunities to supporting economic growth through small-business development and offering outreach programs to help residents understand the Airport better.
This whitepaper highlights the construction projects, initiatives, programs and events that validate Charlotte Douglas as a premier airport.
