Mesa, Arizona — Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport (Gateway Airport, Airport) continued its streak of consecutive monthly passenger growth after reporting its busiest September in the Airport’s history. Gateway Airport has seen double digit growth in passenger numbers during the past year and September 2018 marks the fifth consecutive month of record-setting passenger activity levels. This winter, air travelers will have five airlines and 47 nonstop destinations to choose from at Gateway Airport when Swoop, California Pacific, and Flair Air join WestJet and Allegiant Air.
“This year is shaping up to be the busiest year in Gateway Airport history,” said
Apache Junction Mayor and Chair of the Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport Authority (PMGAA) Jeff Serdy. “We are pleased that Allegiant has added additional destinations and excited to welcome three new airlines just in time for the busy winter travel season.”
September also marks the twelfth consecutive month of year-over-year passenger growth. Anticipating a record holiday travel season, Gateway Airport is completing a project to redesign and enhance the Hourly Parking Lot and passenger pick up and drop off areas. This important infrastructure improvement project will also provide an additional roadway lane to make it easier for customers accessing the Airport.

Fairbanks International Airport Baggage Transport Conveyor Enhanced With Mod Drive™ System
Airports face a host of unique industry challenges, such as meeting efficiency regulations and seeking out the best maintenance practices to reduce costs and keep operations flowing. In today’s current economic climate, any potential cost savings can go a long way.
In 2019, Alaska’s Fairbanks International Airport (FAI) sought to modernize its equipment and operations. They were dissatisfied with the performance of the gearmotors on their baggage transport conveyors and began searching for new suppliers. Regal approached FAI with a solution that could improve equipment performance and simplify maintenance, with the added benefit of energy cost savings: the Hub City® MOD Drive™ system.
