Mesa, Arizona — The number of travelers flying through Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport (Gateway Airport, Airport) continues to set new records, with November 2022 marking the busiest November ever at the Airport. Seven of the last nine months have set records for passenger activity as more air travelers choose Gateway Airport as they return to the skies. 157,725 passengers came through the Airport this November, a 7% increase over the previous record November set in 2021.
This winter, Allegiant Air, Sun Country, and three Canadian airlines – Swoop, Flair, and WestJet – will offer nonstop service to nearly 60 domestic and international destinations.
“November represented another month of continued record growth at Gateway Airport,” said J. Brian O’Neill A.A.E., Executive Director/CEO of the Airport. “Each month, more and more air travelers are discovering the convenience and affordability of using Gateway Airport when they need to travel.”
To keep up with this record growth, Gateway Airport recently started construction on a new 30,000 square foot, five gate terminal addition that is expected to be completed by early 2024.
The peak holiday travel season began Sunday, December 18th and will run through Monday, January 2nd. Passengers can expect busier than normal roadways, parking lots, and security lines and should plan accordingly.

Fairbanks International Airport Baggage Transport Conveyor Enhanced With Mod Drive™ System
Airports face a host of unique industry challenges, such as meeting efficiency regulations and seeking out the best maintenance practices to reduce costs and keep operations flowing. In today’s current economic climate, any potential cost savings can go a long way.
In 2019, Alaska’s Fairbanks International Airport (FAI) sought to modernize its equipment and operations. They were dissatisfied with the performance of the gearmotors on their baggage transport conveyors and began searching for new suppliers. Regal approached FAI with a solution that could improve equipment performance and simplify maintenance, with the added benefit of energy cost savings: the Hub City® MOD Drive™ system.
