Oakland International Airport Snags 2-peat Win at Routes Americas 2019 Aviation Conference
Oakland, CA: (February 28, 2019) – The Port of Oakland Board of Commissioners today receives the hardware brought home by Oakland International Airport following its win at the 2019 Routes Americas Conference in Quebec. The highly-regarded Routes Marketing Award is considered as one of the most prestigious awards in the Aviation industry, as winners are determined and selected by the airline network planning community.
This year’s win signals a repeat for OAK, with the team having won in the “4 – 20 million passengers” category last year. This year, OAK finished first in the same category in addition to receiving the Overall Marketing Award.
“We’re all very pleased and proud to be acknowledged in this way,” said John Albrecht, Manager Aviation Marketing for the Port of Oakland, “This honor is especially welcome as it comes from the airlines we work with around the world. It tells us that we’re on the right track as we continue doing our work in getting the world to Fly the East Bay Way while focusing on excellence.”
Bryant L. Francis, Director of Aviation for the Port of Oakland said, “Our Oakland team has been working very hard to provide the service and access that our customers and partners worldwide have come to know and love. I commend them for this accomplishment, thank the airlines for this acknowledgment, and greatly appreciate the support we receive from our Board of Port Commissioners.”
The Port of Oakland owns and operates the Oakland International Airport, and will be presented with the trophies during the public Board Meeting this afternoon at the Port of Oakland Headquarters.
