San Antonio (October 6, 2021) San Antonio International Airport (SAT) is supporting two national campaigns this month: Breast Cancer Awareness and Domestic Violence Awareness.
SAT is showing the power of pink by turning its lights pink to acknowledge Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The airport is also partnering with the Methodist Hospital, Methodist Healthcare Ministries and American Cancer Society to promote the “Real Men Wear Pink campaign. The campaign raises money for breast cancer research and encourages men and women to get breast exams.
One key element of the local campaign is to commission an artist to create a sculpture using bras and ties. This year bins will be placed at the information desks in the baggage claim areas of both terminals to collect bras and ties. The artist or design team will unveil the sculpture next year. The sculpture will travel around the city and state to raise awareness of the second leading cause of cancer deaths in women.
SAT is also participating in the Purple Porch SA Initiative to shine the light on domestic violence by turning the airport’s lights purple to mark Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Bexar County consistently ranks in the top five counties in Texas for domestic violence-related homicides.
The lights will alternate between purple and pink until October 31. The last day to collect bras and ties is also on October 31
Fairbanks International Airport Baggage Transport Conveyor Enhanced With Mod Drive™ System
Airports face a host of unique industry challenges, such as meeting efficiency regulations and seeking out the best maintenance practices to reduce costs and keep operations flowing. In today’s current economic climate, any potential cost savings can go a long way.
In 2019, Alaska’s Fairbanks International Airport (FAI) sought to modernize its equipment and operations. They were dissatisfied with the performance of the gearmotors on their baggage transport conveyors and began searching for new suppliers. Regal approached FAI with a solution that could improve equipment performance and simplify maintenance, with the added benefit of energy cost savings: the Hub City® MOD Drive™ system.
