Daily service will connect passengers to Zurich and beyond
Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD) announced Monday that Swiss International Air Lines (SWISS) will begin daily round-trip flights to Zurich (ZRH) beginning March 29, 2020. With the addition of this new service, the National Capital Region will now be served by 14 weekly flights from Dulles International to Zurich on SWISS and its Star Alliance partner, United Airlines.
“With the addition of SWISS, Dulles International welcomes its 17th Star Alliance carrier, more than any other airport in the United States outside New York, reaffirming our commitment to offering passengers in the National Capital Region unparalleled connectivity to Europe and the world,” said Jerome L. Davis, executive vice president and chief revenue officer for the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority.
Passengers on this new route will travel nonstop aboard the airline’s A330-300 aircraft. Flights are now available for booking. The schedule is as follows:

“The Zurich to Washington, D.C., route is an important one for The Lufthansa Group to undertake,” said Frank Naeve, vice president of sales, the Americas, Lufthansa Group. “Now, Washingtonians will be able to enjoy the premium travel experience that SWISS offers its customers, including its award winning ‘SWISS Taste of Switzerland’ inflight culinary program, as well as the airline’s state-of-the-art aircraft.”
“With the addition of new nonstop service to Zurich, SWISS joins 34 other airlines offering more than 70 daily flights to 57 nonstop international destinations from the leading international airport in the U.S. capital region,” said Yil Surehan, vice president of Airline Business Development for the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority.
Monday’s announcement is the latest in new airline service from Dulles International in 2019, which saw passenger activity increase by more than 5 percent in 2018.
