Jamestown OH – March 6, 2023 - In 2019, Twist Inc. pursued legal action for BGSE’s alleged patent infringement over their patented hose retriever system, The Boom Air®. After a failed attempt to invalidate the patent at the US Patent Office, and a jury trial looming, a settlement was inked between the two companies in November 2022. The main condition in the settlement agreement ends all BGSE’s sales/distribution of any motorized hose retriever systems until June 2034, the expiration date of Twist’s patent number US 9,365,297. This is just one of the twenty patent filings Twist owns and maintains relating to The Boom Air® hose retriever invention, some dating as far back as 2002.
The Boom Air® is a motorized hose delivery system that connects and delivers air from the ground HVAC unit to the aircraft. Located in Jamestown, Ohio, Twist Inc. has been in the manufacturing business for 51 years, supporting automotive and aviation industry. The Boom Air® invention spring boarded Twist into the aviation sector in 2004, where they further added PCAs, GPUs, mobile units and hoses to their product portfolio.
This legal conclusion is a significant win for Twist, as it solidifies their patents and position as the inventor of the hose retriever system. BGSE has not fared well, and filed for Chapter 11 Bankruptcy one day after the Twist patent infringement lawsuit agreement was completed.
