MELBOURNE, FL (January 24, 2024) - The Melbourne Orlando International Airport (MLB) today released its December 2023 Monthly Activity Report containing the passenger, cargo, and aircraft operations data for calendar year 2023 (CY23). The airport reported near record passenger activity, serving 747,691 total passengers in 2023 – a total only surpassed by the airport’s top year ever in 1990, making CY23 the second highest total in the airport’s 95-year history.
“We are thrilled with MLB’s 2023 performance. Under the guidance of the Melbourne Airport Authority Board and with the incredible efforts of our team, we provided exceptional air travel experiences to nearly three-quarter-million individuals. I cannot underscore the pride we feel in this accomplishment as we look forward to the year ahead,” said MLB Executive Director Greg Donovan, A.A.E.
The high level of passenger activity in 2023 was supported by the airport’s recently completed terminal renovation and expansion. The project, a $72-million-dollar capital investment, provides significant upgrades to the comfort and convenience of the MLB customer experience with the addition of 86,000 square feet of new facilities, including a welcome center, new passenger boarding bridges capable of supporting wide body aircraft, food and beverage options, retail offerings, an expanded international baggage claim, a TSA passenger screening space with quadruple the space as before, and four new sets of bathrooms.
Additional capital improvement projects are slated for 2024, including the installation of an innovative in-line baggage system, new escalator, and enhanced security systems. These improvements are designed to enable MLB to continue to expand operational capacity and improve passenger experience. All improvements are being accomplished with transportation specific grants and airport generated revenue.
“We have made incredible strides in recent years at MLB. Maintaining our upward momentum is critical in leading the airport to even greater heights as we continue to meet and exceed the needs of the traveling public,” said Donovan. “We look forward to ongoing growth and know that MLB’s greatest years lie ahead.”

PAVIX: Proven Winner for All Airport Concrete Infrastructure
International Chem-Crete Corporation (ICC) manufactures and sells PAVIX, a unique line of crystalline waterproofing products that penetrate into the surface of cured concrete to fill and seal pores and capillary voids, creating a long lasting protective zone within the concrete substrate.
Once concrete is treated, water is prevented from penetrating through this protective zone and causing associated damage, such as freeze-thaw cracking, reinforcing steel corrosion, chloride ion penetration, and ASR related cracking.
This white paper discusses how the PAVIX CCC100 technology works and its applications.
