Neumayer has been instrumental in demonstrating to the architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC) industry that a collaborative approach to project delivery can yield exceptional outcomes. He has championed these processes through the use of Integrated Project Delivery (IPD) and Progressive Design Build, as well as shown leadership as former Chair of the National Board of Directors for the Design Build Institute of America and Co-Chair for the Design Build Institute of America’s Progressive Design Build Committee, where he was responsible for developing the national education program.
Neumayer was not able to participate in the conference due to a conflict, but in his relayed remarks, he said, “This award is not mine alone—it reflects the extraordinary work of the entire team at San Francisco International Airport. Together, we set new standards for airport design and delivery. I especially want to acknowledge John Martin, the Airport’s Director, who retired in 2016. His vision of collaboration and partnership between public and private enterprises laid the foundation for the exceptional projects that have defined our industry. I am grateful to all of our consultants, planning and design teams, design-build partners, and owner representatives. SFO is an amazing airport, and I was fortunate to be part of a community determined to change the way projects are delivered.”
