Ribbon Cutting with Charlotte County Chamber and Punta Gorda Chamber

Punta Gorda, FL (Aug. 26, 2025) – Charlotte County Airport Authority (CCAA) Commissioners celebrated the opening of the new Rental Car Center in conjunction with both the Charlotte County Chamber of Commerce and the Punta Gorda Chamber of Commerce on Monday, August 25, 2025. CCAA Chair Rob Hancik led the ribbon cutting alongside commissioners Shan Swelland and Steven Leskovich.

CCAA management was joined by construction team leadership from DeAngelis Diamond, as well as leadership from AECOM, the facility’s designer.  AECOM and DeAngelis Diamond are also design-build partners in the 50,700 square foot expansion and renovation of Punta Gorda Airport’s (PGD) Bailey Terminal, with estimated completion in 2027.

PGD’s new state-of-the-art 18,000-square-foot Rental Car Center cost approximately $8 million and serves customers of Alamo, Enterprise, National, Avis, Budget, Payless and Hertz. It also houses offices, breakroom, training and storage space for the rental car companies, CCAA and TSA’s screening partner.

The new facility opened in mid-July and is located just north of the Bailey Terminal. The parking lot between the Bailey Terminal and the Rental Car Center is also the new pick-up location for parking shuttles, taxis, hotel shuttles and ride apps like Uber and Lyft. A rotating variety of food trucks are also stationed near the new Rental Car Center several days a week during lunchtime.

Since July 2024, approximately 200,000 visitors have utilized rental car facilities at PGD.
