The Kalamazoo/Battle Creek International Airport reports continued growth in passenger traffic for May 2021. In May 2021 passenger traffic at the Airport increased 788% from what was reported in May 2020. Below are some statistics from May 2021.
- The Airport saw 14,088 total passengers in May 2021, up from 12,370 in April 2021 and up from May 2020’s 1,659 passengers.
- The Airport’s 14,088 total passengers in May 2021 is down 54.4% compared to pre-pandemic 2019 numbers.
- For the year to date AZO passenger traffic is down 61% compared to 2019.
- Aircraft Load Factor (how full an airplane is) was at 80% for May 2021, compared to 26% in May 2020 and 76% in May 2019.
“The May numbers are encouraging and show the need for increased reinstatement of flights to add capacity into a market that is just beginning to see a return of business traffic. We expect this to continue as Southwest Michigan returns to normal operations.” said Craig Williams, Airport Director.
