May 19, 2021.

The Kalamazoo/Battle Creek International Airport will conduct an emergency drill Friday, May 21st. Area police, fire and emergency agencies will converge on the Airport to practice procedures needed in the event of an actual emergency.

“The public may see a lot of activity, but it’s just part of a drill to support the requirements to exercise our Airport Emergency Plan every three years. It provides a great opportunity to work with our mutual aid partners,” said Anton Bjorkman, Assistant Director, Operations & Maintenance at the airport.

Participating will be all facets of the Airport’s own safety, security, maintenance, and operations personnel. The Airport relies heavily on mutual aid partnerships and the public safety departments from Kalamazoo and Portage, the Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s Department, area fire departments, medical control and emergency medical units and the American Red Cross.
The exercise will take place at the south of the passenger terminal, starting at 8:00 a.m. on Friday, May 21.
