Salina, KS – The Salina Airport Authority is pleased to announce that Amazon’s new delivery station at 1850 W. Water Well Road is now fully operational, exceeding initial employment projections. The 90,000-square-foot facility, which began operations in October 2025, has generated 495 total jobs.

The facility, designated WKS3, represents Amazon’s first operational site in central Kansas and serves a 60-mile radius extending from Russell to Junction City and from Concordia to Newton. In its first five months, the station has processed more than 1.7 million packages, with operations ramping up to 14,000 packages daily during peak holiday periods.

“Already in our first five months since opening in late October of last year, we’ve created 220 quality on-site jobs, with total employment reaching 495 when including delivery partners and Flex drivers for shifts that fit into their schedules,” said Judah Hurt, Senior Station Manager at WKS3.

“I’m proud to say Amazon is strengthening the U.S. economy with significant investments and the creation of good jobs, and I’m incredibly optimistic about our continued support for communities across America,” said Ashleigh de la Torre, Amazon’s Vice President of Public Policy. “I also want to recognize the hard work of the Salina Airport Authority and our exceptional partners Shelli and Pieter; their team set a best-in-class example of what strong community collaboration looks like.”

The WKS3 facility anchors the 80-acre Airport Industrial Center Subdivision No. 3, complementing the existing 125+ businesses at the Salina Regional Airport and Airport Industrial Center, which collectively employ over 7,000 workers and contribute $1.3 billion annually to Kansas’ economy.

The Salina Airport Authority also has up to 50 acres available within this subdivision—zoned, platted, and annexed—ready for immediate construction, offering prime development opportunities less than 3/4 mile from Interstate 135. Amazon’s investment in Salina is part of a broader $4 billion expansion bringing faster delivery speeds to rural counties throughout Kansas. Since 2010, Amazon has invested nearly $9 billion across Kansas, contributing $7.7 billion to the state’s GDP and employing more than 7,000 workers statewide.

Beyond economic impact, Amazon employees at WKS3 have donated over 140 volunteer hours to local organizations including Ashby House of Salina and Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Salina.
