Aviation Authority Board to discuss selection of TPA’s next CEO at special meeting

Oct 30, 2024 | News

The Hillsborough County Aviation Authority Board of Directors, which oversees Tampa International Airport and the county’s three general aviation airports, will meet for a Special Board Meeting tomorrow (Wednesday), Oct. 30, for a discussion and potential selection of the next CEO. The meeting will be held at the SkyCenter One Boardroom and is open to the public.

The discussion will kick off with a 9 a.m. Finance Committee meeting in which three members of the Board tasked with leading the CEO succession process will discuss the four internal candidates. At 9:30 a.m., the full five-member Board will convene to discuss the ranking or top selection among the candidates. If a consensus is reached, the Board may vote to name and proceed with a contract for the new CEO, set to take over after current CEO Joe Lopano steps down next year in retirement.

A consultant from executive search firm Korn Ferry will help moderate the conversation among the Finance Committee and HCAA Board. The four candidates for CEO are internal: Damian Brooke, Executive Vice President of Finance, Procurement and Capital Programs; Michael Stephens, General Counsel and Executive Vice President; John Tiliacos, Executive Vice President of Operations and Customer Service; and Chris Minner, Executive Vice President of Marketing and Communications.
