BBE Achieves International Certification for Pharmaceutical Handling

Certified IATA CEIV Pharma

BBE is proud to announce we have been certified under the International Air Transport Association’s pharmaceutical logistics seal of excellence, CEIV Pharma (Center of Excellence for Independent Validators in Pharmaceutical Logistics). This designation confirms both our Freight Forwarding and Ground Handler services meet the highest standards in the industry and certifies the quality of our services for delivery of healthcare products across Canada and internationally, including regions with the most challenging logistics. The certification also supports an initiative with the Edmonton International Airport to develop a pharmaceutical logistics community at the airport, a first in Canada.

“Achieving this international certification has been a major priority for EIA’s cargo operations and we’re thrilled that a critical partner for us, BBE, has now achieved both certifications needed for its CEIV status. We want to congratulate our friends and partners who have worked hard on this. It will help us continue to make Edmonton a global shipping destination for temperature sensitive cargo, including bio-pharma and agricultural products,” stated Myron Keehn, Vice President, Air Service & Business Development, Edmonton International Airport.

This industry-wide standard could not have come at a better time. This year has been exceptionally challenging with the impacts all around us from the global COVID-19 pandemic. The coming months will be vital to ensure that vaccines are delivered for safe use all over the world. At BBE, we will work to ensure vaccines are safely delivered throughout Canada.

“Knowing that historically 25% of all vaccines worldwide arrive degraded due to incorrect shipping and that 20% of temperature sensitive products are damaged due to breaks in the cold chain, this means that people’s health security can be comprised within supply chains. This is what inspired us to build upon our years of delivering pharmaceuticals and health care products into remote communities across Canada,” stated Heather Stewart, President BBE.

As regulators also continue to raise standards for our customers, this certification is key to BBE staying ahead of the service requirements of our stakeholders in healthcare and life sciences. Managing the risks around product integrity and traceability of temperature controlled and time-sensitive products in the supply chain are quality attributes we are committed to and pairing these with our technology is a significant value add for our customers.
