Blue Grass Airport Regional Arff Training Center Announces 2025 Class Schedule

Lexington, KY—January 21, 2025—Blue Grass Airport’s Regional Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting (ARFF) Training Center has announced its 2025 class schedule and is now accepting reservations. These classes feature an upgraded training experience with new aircraft simulators installed in 2024, offering ARFF professionals from across the country enhanced opportunities to learn aircraft rescue and firefighting techniques while receiving the necessary training requirements for their departments.

The classes offered in 2025 include:

  • ARFF 100: Basic Aircraft Rescue Firefighting (with or without IFSAC certification) – February 17-21, March 10-14, April 14-18, May 12-16 and June 16-20, 2025
  • ARFF 300: Basic Recertification Live Fire Drill
  • ARFF 301: Initial Certification Live Fire Drill
  • ARFF 302: Advanced Recertification Live Fire Drill
  • ARFF 400: ARFF for the Structural Firefighter
  • ARFF 502: Response to Rotorcraft Accidents – June 26-27, 2025
  • Thermal Imaging for ARFF – February 28, 2025
  • Custom-designed courses, available upon request

Additional classes for the remainder of the year will be scheduled and announced at a later date.

Participants in these courses will train using the training center’s two new state-of-the-art aircraft simulators installed last fall. This equipment includes a simulator based on the Boeing 737 and Airbus 320, as well as a 30-foot-long helicopter simulator modeled after the UH60 Blackhawk. These significant equipment upgrades can demonstrate 28 fire simulations, which can be combined to offer a wide range of fire training scenarios to ensure firefighters are prepared for any emergency.

Online registration is available for ARFF 100: Basic Aircraft Rescue Firefighting and ARFF 502: Response to Rotorcraft Accidents. For all other classes, reservations may be made by contacting the training center at 859.425.3122 or emailing ARFFTraining@bluegrassairport.com. The training center also offers the option to create customized classes tailored to departments seeking to enhance specific skills or meet certain requirements.
