Parties were held at airline gates to mark the 75th departure and the 75th arrival of the day, with refreshments and giveaways. The BWI Marshall Airport Fire and Rescue Department welcomed the 75th daily arrival with a special water salute.
On June 24, 1950, President Harry S. Truman officially dedicated Friendship International Airport. Over the past 75 years, the airport – now named BWI Thurgood Marshall Airport—has grown into a major international gateway.
