Mar 13, 2021 | News

Get ready to embark on a literary journey during the Summer Lit Fest at Kansas City International Airport (MCI). The event kicks off on Friday, July 28th, from 11 am to 2 pm with an author’s book signing pop up. This inaugural event, held at the Turn the Page KC store, will engage travelers and locals alike with a delightful array of acclaimed local authors and their books to celebrate travel and reading.

The Summer Lit Fest pop-up event combines the joy of reading and travel with the bustling energy of Kansas City’s International Airport. Once travelers have cleared through security, they can visit the event pop-up in Concourse B to meet renowned Kansas City authors and discover their books and the stories they have created that captivate readers. Joining us will be:

  • Former Kansas City Mayor Sly James will be present from 11 am to 1 pm to discuss and sign the enchanting tale “Mayor Sly and the Magic Bow Tie” written by Aja James and Audrey Masoner;
  • Jim “Stinky Feet” Cosgrove, with his delightful books “Bop Bop Dinosaur” and “Sullen Sally”;
  • Chris Meggs, the mastermind behind “Twas the Night Before Tipoff” and “Go Chiefs Go”;
  • Julie Snodgrass, whose heartwarming stories “The Search for your Best Furever Friend” and “Puppies on Parade” have touched countless hearts;
  • Christle Reed invites readers to be themselves with “I Can be me in KC;” and
  • Crystal Everett – this story shares the power of music and movement inMommy and Mari Move It.”

As part of the pop-up event, the Turn the Page KC organization will share information on its mission and various summer programming initiatives throughout the Kansas City metro area. The Turn the Page KC retail location is inspired by the mission of the Turn the Page KC organization to ensure everyone has the literary skills to be successful in life.
