June, 2019, West Chicago, IL – Officials from the DuPage Airport Authority (DAA), along with Midwest Industrial Fund and NAI Hiffman hosted a celebratory groundbreaking ceremony Wednesday morning to mark a new development at the 800-acre DuPage Business Center in West Chicago, bringing impactful economic development to the area.

Midwest Industrial officially broke ground on a speculative 303,601 SF industrial building suitable for a variety of uses, including distribution, assembly and manufacturing. It is the largest spec building to be developed in the Fox Valley Submarket, with completion expected in the fall.

“The centralized DuPage County location along with the strength of the nearby labor force made the DuPage Business Center an ideal spot for this development,” said Justin Fierz, a principal with Midwest Industrial Funds. “We’ve enjoyed working with the DuPage Airport Authority to transform our vision into reality and look forward to continuing our strong partnership moving forward.”

DuPage Business Center is one of three entities owned and operated by the DAA, along with the DuPage Airport and Prairie Landing Golf Club. Originally developed with the assistance of a grant from the State of Illinois, the Business Center will become an employment hub, providing thousands of jobs and generating significant economic impacts for the region.

”Building on a strong 2018 that saw the announcement of developments from Suncast Corporation, Norix Group, Inc. and Greco and Sons, Inc., we are thrilled to welcome this speculative Midwest Industrial Fund facility to the DuPage Business Center,” said David Bird, Executive Director, DuPage Airport Authority. “These four projects coupled with one other currently pending transaction, will result in more than one million square feet of new buildings, encompassing 170-plus acres. It’s truly an exciting time for the Business Center.”

Currently, about 70 percent of the Business Center plots are filled. DAA, the City of West Chicago and NAI Hiffman are continuing to market the remaining developable acres. “We look forward to working together to bring added economic development and jobs to the City of West Chicago and DuPage County,” Bird added.
