PGA and World Golf Hall of Fame prizes given to travelers on today’s inaugural flight

MILWAUKEE (August 15, 2018) – Milwaukee County’s General Mitchell International Airport (MKE) and Frontier Airlines launched new seasonal nonstop service from Milwaukee to Jacksonville International Airport this afternoon. The celebration in the gate area featured a golf theme, as greater Jacksonville is home to the PGA and the World Golf Hall of Fame.

“What a fantastic day to celebrate new service to a destination that has never been served nonstop from MKE,” Airport Director Brian Dranzik said. “Frontier’s low fares combined with our Airport’s inexpensive parking options will draw many new travelers to MKE who have been looking for a nonstop option to northeastern Florida.”

In addition to making a putting green available to passengers on the first flight to Jacksonville, many PGA door prizes were given to randomly selected passengers. The grand prize included a two-night stay at the Renaissance St. Augustine Resort and a round of golf at the Slammer and Squire golf course. All passengers received free tickets to the World Golf Hall of Fame.

The new flights operate twice per week, on Wednesdays and Saturdays, on board full-size Airbus A320 jets.

In addition to the new service to Jacksonville and San Diego, Frontier also offers nonstop service from MKE to Austin, Denver, Fort Myers, Las Vegas, Orlando, Philadelphia, Phoenix, Raleigh-Durham, San Diego and Tampa.

Mitchell Airport offers nonstop flights to 48 destinations coast-to-coast, and 160 international destinations are available from Milwaukee with just one connection.  MKE is also served by Air Canada, Alaska, Allegiant, American, Delta, Southwest, United and Volaris. The nonstop cities map can be found at www.mitchellairport.com

General Mitchell International Airport is owned by Milwaukee County and operated by the Department of Transportation, Airport Division, under the policy direction of the Milwaukee County Executive and the County Board of Supervisors. The airport is entirely funded by user fees; no property tax dollars are used for the airport’s capital improvements or for its day-to-day operation.
