Grand Junction, Colorado – Official Aviation Guide (OAG), an air travel intelligence company, announced their “On-Time Performance Star Ratings for the World’s Airlines and Airports”. The ratings accredit the top airlines and airports around the world for superior punctuality performance. Grand Junction Regional Airport, for the second year in a row, ranks among the top 10% of airports in the world.

Grand Junction Regional Airport is one of only three airports in the Continental United States to receive a five-star rating. Three U.S. airports in Hawaii received a five-star rating along with Salt Lake City, Utah; Boise, Idaho; and Grand Junction, Colorado. The star ratings range from one to five stars. Airlines and airports, in the top 10%, of the best on-time performance receive five-star ratings.

Compared to last year’s on-time performance data, Grand Junction Regional Airport saw a decrease from 87.1% to 84.99%. Meaning nearly 85% of Grand Junction Regional Airport’s flights arrived and departed on-time. Airport officials equate the slight decrease in on-time performance to the serve weather conditions in connecting markets. Grand Junction Regional Airport had 9,500 total commercial operations during this period, an increase of over 400 commercial operations from the year prior. Between May 2018 and May 2019, Grand Junction Regional Airport received 126 more diversions, for a total of 349 diversions, this year compared to last year. The majority of those diversions were scheduled to arrive at Aspen Pitkin County Airport or Denver International Airport.

In addition to the on-time performance, Grand Junction Regional Airport ranked number eight among North America’s small airports in “Turnaround Kings”. This rating accredits airports that receive late arrivals and turn the aircraft around for an on-time departure.

Grand Junction Regional Airport Executive Director, Angela Padalecki, in reference to both the on-time ratings and the Turnaround King ranking, stated “This is a direct reflection of the hard work and collaborative culture of the GJT staff and our airline partners”.
