Punta Cana next to officially launch on Indy’s growing list of nonstop international flights

INDIANAPOLIS (Dec. 6, 2025) – The Indianapolis International Airport (IND) will see its list of active international flights grow larger starting today, as the first-ever nonstop service to Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic will make its inaugural take off out of Indy.

American Airlines announced the Punta Cana nonstop flight in March. The flight departs out of Indianapolis once weekly on Saturdays.

American operations flights currently out of Indy to Boston, Charlotte, Cancun, Washington National, Dallas, New York JFK and LGA, Los Angeles, Miami, Chicago, Philadelphia and Phoenix.

“Punta Cana joins Dublin, Toronto and Cancun on our list of international flights actively in operation out of IND,” said Maggie Cunningham, director of air service and airport experience with the Indianapolis Airport Authority. “With what’s currently in operation and what’s announced to come over the next few months, we’re looking at 55 nonstop flights in total out of IND in 2026.”

In addition to Dublin, Toronto, Cancun and now Punta Cana, Southwest Airlines will launch its inaugural Spring Break 2026 flight to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico on April 6, 2026, and another seasonal nonstop flight to San Juan in the Caribbean beginning June 6, 2026.

Dublin, Punta Cana, Cabo and San Juan are first-ever flights out of Indianapolis, meaning they’ve been unserved destinations Hoosiers have long been asking for.

“New flights open doors,” said Mario Rodriguez, IAA executive director. “New routes mean more convenience, more opportunity, and more ways we’re delivering on what Hoosiers want most.”
