New KIND Gallery exhibit showcases memories, wonders and dreams

INDIANAPOLIS (Oct. 22, 2025) — Two of Indiana’s most celebrated institutions are coming together in a new exhibit at the Indianapolis International Airport (IND). The airport’s KIND Gallery is now featuring “Memories, Wonders, and Dreams: Stories from 100 Years”—a centennial tribute to The Children’s Museum of Indianapolis, the world’s largest children’s museum.

The exhibit, located post-security in Concourse A, showcases a curated selection of objects and photographs from the museum’s vast archive and collection. The exhibit reflects a century of inspiring imagination, learning and discovery for families across Indiana and around the globe.

“The Children’s Museum of Indianapolis is an Indy icon with international reach,” said Indianapolis Airport Authority Executive Director Mario Rodriguez. “As the front door for the city to more than 10.5 million travelers annually, IND is the perfect place to help tell the story of the legacy and impact of the 100-year history of The Children’s Museum.”

The KIND Gallery is part of IND’s award-winning public art program, which was recently named to the number-two spot for airport arts program in the country by USA TODAY’s 10Best Readers’ Choice Awards. With rotating exhibits, permanent installations and digital displays throughout the terminal, IND has become the city’s largest public art gallery by visitor volume. A recent study revealed that 50 percent of travelers through IND said they are more likely to visit an arts and culture venue in Central Indiana after seeing the art at the airport. These findings underscore the airport’s role not just as a transportation hub, but as a powerful driver of the region’s creative economy.

The Indy airport partnered with The Children’s Museum in the spring to install a 33-foot T. rex fossil in Civic Plaza, as part of the year-long celebration of the museum’s 100th birthday and in time to welcome travelers during spring break.

The latest installation of “Memories, Wonders, and Dreams: Stories from 100 Years” continues the partnership by celebrating a fellow Indianapolis institution that has shaped generations of visitors. From its humble beginnings in a carriage house in 1925 to its current status as a global leader in family learning, The Children’s Museum has remained at the heart of Indiana’s cultural landscape.

“We are honored to share a piece of The Children’s Museum of Indianapolis with the thousands of travelers who pass through the Indianapolis Airport each day,” said Jennifer Pace Robinson, president and chief executive officer of The Children’s Museum of Indianapolis. “Seeing our century-long story come to life at the true gateway to our city is deeply meaningful. This gallery reflects not only our rich history but also the bright future ahead, as we continue to spark memories, wonders, and dreams for the next 100 years.”

The exhibit will be on display through January 2026, and is accessible and free to all ticketed passengers.
