Indy Airport Says ‘Hello Avelo’

Avelo Airlines arrives with two new nonstops starting June 18

INDIANAPOLIS (March 18, 2026) — The Indianapolis International Airport (IND) announced today it is adding Avelo Airlines to its roster of airline partners. Avelo will begin service out of the Indy airport on June 18, launching service to two new nonstop destinations that were previously unserved from Indianapolis. Avelo becomes the Indy airport’s 12th passenger airline and fourth ultra‑low‑cost carrier, expanding affordable flight options for business and leisure travelers.

Avelo will begin year‑round, twice‑weekly service on Thursdays and Sundays to Concord, North Carolina (USA), and New Haven, Connecticut (HVN) — both of which connect travelers to major East Coast regions for business and leisure travel.

Concord provides convenient access to the Charlotte metro area, including motorsports hubs and NASCAR team headquarters. New Haven is best known as the home of Yale University and is the second largest city in Connecticut, as well as part of the New York metro region, and it is a coastal city featuring 100s of distinct restaurants along with theatres, museums and shopping destinations.

“Avelo heard our call to fill a gap that Indy travelers have been asking us to fill,” said Mario Rodriguez, executive director of the Indianapolis Airport Authority. “Avelo brings new nonstop options we haven’t had before, and they do it with a track record of running reliably and at affordable fares. It’s a good fit for Indy and a win for Hoosier business and leisure travelers looking to get to high-demand East Coast destinations.”

The data shows that demand for both regions is strong among Hoosiers.

“The Charlotte metro area sees about 196 people a day traveling from IND, whereas the Hartford region — which includes the New York City/Long Island area — draws about 920 daily travelers from Indy,” said Marsha Wurster, IAA senior director of commercial enterprise. “These new routes give Hoosiers easier access to two high‑traffic regions without having to deal with the congestion of major airports.”

Avelo launched in 2021 as the first new U.S. mainline carrier in nearly 15 years and has quickly built a reputation for dependable operations. In 2024, the airline ranked No. 1 in on‑time performance and had the lowest cancellation rate in the country. Its strategy of serving secondary airports near major cities aligns with IND’s focus on convenience, affordability, and traveler‑friendly service.

“Indianapolis – say hello to Avelo,” said Avelo Airlines Founder and Chief Executive Officer Andrew Levy. “These new routes expand travel options for Indianapolis-area travelers, making it easier and more affordable than ever to get to these two great Avelo destinations.”

Avelo’s announcement follows a series of recent expansions the airline is making across the Midwest and East Coast, reinforcing the airline’s commitment to growing in the region and connecting travelers to high‑demand destinations.

With the addition of Avelo, the Indy airport continues to expand its mix of legacy, low‑cost, and ultra‑low‑cost carriers — and increase the number of nonstop flights to 57, the highest number to date.
