| INDIANAPOLIS (March 17, 2026) — With St. Patrick’s Day upon us and Irish celebrations planned throughout the city today, the Indianapolis International Airport (IND) is marking a celebration of its own: nearly one year of Aer Lingus nonstop service between Indianapolis and Dublin — a route that has proven to have the luck of the Irish behind it.
The Aer Lingus transatlantic flight, which launched in May 2025, has become a reliable and popular option for both leisure and business travelers. Since the inaugural flight, thousands of travelers have flown between Indy and Dublin, and the route has operated over 300 flights connecting Indiana to Ireland and beyond.
“Hoosiers excitedly embraced this route from day one, Aer Lingus backed it with a strong partnership, and together we built a connection that supports both our economy and our community,” said Mario Rodriguez, executive director of the Indianapolis Airport Authority. “This route is succeeding because Hoosiers love it, demand keeps growing, and the partnership with Aer Lingus is strong.”
Fifth Flight Per Week Arriving Soon
Aer Lingus will add another weekly flight to the Indy–Dublin route beginning April 16. The additional flight will expand service from the current four flights to five nonstop departures per week. Aer Lingus added the additional weekly flight in response to demand, and is kicking off the added day ahead of the summer travel season. It also gives Hoosiers more flexibility as interest in the Indy–Dublin connection continues to build.
“Aer Lingus’ service to Dublin offers Hoosiers a convenient and efficient gateway to Europe,” said Reid Moody, chief strategy and planning officer at Aer Lingus. “The development of this route clearly demonstrates the growing demand for travel between Indianapolis, Ireland and the wider European market. By flying with Aer Lingus, customers can connect seamlessly via our Dublin hub to major destinations across Europe and the UK, whether they are travelling for business or leisure.”
The Indy–Dublin service also gives travelers connections to more than 20 destinations beyond Dublin, including major European and U.K. cities such as Paris, London, Frankfurt, Rome, and Amsterdam. Dublin Airport is one of only two airports in Europe offering U.S. preclearance, allowing travelers to complete immigration and customs procedures before departure and arrive in Indy as domestic passengers.
“The immediate success of the Dublin flight is a testament to the growing global appeal of Indianapolis,” said Leonard Hoops, president and chief executive officer of Visit Indy. “This route has created meaningful opportunities to attract more international visitors, strengthen relationships with international meeting decision-makers, and showcase why Indy was named one of Condé Nast Traveler’s Best Places to Go in the U.S. for 2026. International non-stop flights are a powerful tourism and economic development asset, and this Aer Lingus flight has made Indy much more accessible from Ireland and Europe.”
Economic Impact and Global Connectivity
Air service analysis shows an average of 330 people travel from the Indianapolis area to European destinations daily. By attracting Indiana’s year‑round transatlantic flight, the IAA estimates the service could have a more than $50 million annual impact on Indiana’s economy.
Indiana is home to 52 Ireland‑based businesses and more than 1,090 foreign‑owned business establishments representing over 40 countries and territories — reinforcing the business case for continued international connectivity.
“Our Aer Lingus partnership has proven how a well-positioned nonstop flight can spark new opportunities for Indiana,” said Marsha Wurster, IAA senior director of commercial enterprise. “The flight to Dublin has made transatlantic travel very convenient for Hoosiers and gives our businesses a far smoother path into European markets. It’s become a real advantage for Indiana, and we’re looking forward to seeing what this flight will further deliver in 2026.” |
