Aer Lingus transatlantic route increases daily flights out of Indy

INDIANAPOLIS (Sept. 25, 2025) – By the end of this month, the new Aer Lingus nonstop transatlantic flight that launched in May will have carried more than 20,000 passengers between the Indianapolis International Airport (IND) and Dublin Airport (DUB) in Ireland. Yet Aer Lingus is just getting started!

In 2026, the Irish flag carrier will add an extra nonstop flight each week between Indy and Dublin on Thursdays starting on April 13 and continuing through the summer travel season.

“We’re going from four nonstop flights per week to five per week,” said Maggie Cunningham, director of air service and airport experience. “We had set a goal of increasing flight frequency in summer 2027, so to hit that goal an entire year earlier is a testament to how successful the flight is among leisure and business travelers.”

Tickets to Dublin for the 2026 summer travel season are on sale now.

Aer Lingus will continue its year-round service four times per week after the summer season, with a short break between January and February. Operating on a state-of-the-art Airbus A321XLR, the Aer Lingus nonstop flight offers dual class seats, including 16 business class seats.

The Indy airport celebrated the inaugural Aer Lingus Indy-to-Dublin nonstop on May 3 with a festive event that included an Ireland preview centered around Irish culture, honored speakers and live performances.

“Weekly we hear from Hoosier travelers who are thrilled Indy has this nonstop route,” said Cunningham. “Many have Irish or business connections, and many other travelers are getting to see the Emerald Isle for the first time due to its accessibility out of Indy and reasonable air fares.”

The Aer Lingus nonstop route also gives Hoosiers and global businesses seamless connections to more than 20 destinations beyond Dublin, including major cities in Europe and the United Kingdom, such as Paris, London, Frankfurt, Rome and Amsterdam.

As an added convenience, Dublin Airport is one of only two airports in Europe that provides U.S.-bound travelers with preclearance services. Those traveling on nonstop flights to the United States complete immigration and customs procedures in Dublin prior to their departure and are treated as domestic passengers in Indy on arrival.

Air service analysis shows an average of 545 people travel from the Indianapolis area to European destinations daily. By attracting Indiana’s new year-round transatlantic flight, the IAA estimates that this new air service could have a more than $50 million annual impact on Indiana’s economy.

“Our direct service between Dublin and Indianapolis has exceeded expectations, with strong demand, particularly from customers in the U.S., driving our decision to increase frequency for summer 2026,” said Reid Moody, Aer Lingus chief strategy and planning officer. “This route plays an important role in supporting the growing business and cultural ties between Ireland and Indiana, and reinforces Aer Lingus’ commitment to connecting key U.S. cities with Europe through our Dublin hub.”

Moody also said the non-stop service from Indy to Europe was made possible by the extended range of Aer Lingus’ new Airbus A321 XLR aircraft, which also offers an exceptionally comfortable and modern in-flight experience. With five flights per week, Moody said Aer Lingus looks forward to welcoming even more Hoosiers to Ireland and beyond.

In addition to Indiana being home to 52 Ireland-based businesses, it is also home to more than 1,090 foreign-owned business establishments, representing more than 40 countries and territories. In 2023, foreign-owned companies committed to investing $20.49 billion to locate or expand operations in Indiana – a 182% increase from 2022 and 71% of the IEDC’s total committed capital investment in 2023 – and create approximately 8,500 new Hoosier jobs.

Established in 1936, Aer Lingus is Ireland’s flag carrier, and is certified by Skytrax as a four-star airline, putting it in an exclusive class among the elite company of 40 other 4-star airlines globally. Aer Lingus partners on specific routes with Alaska Airlines, American Airlines, British Airways, Iberia and JetBlue.

The Irish airline serves over 100 global destinations, including 19 U.S. cities such as Chicago O’Hare, Los Angeles, San Francisco, and more.
