inter airport Europe 2025 celebrates a raft of innovations

Oct 22, 2025 | News

Business leads were forged at the recent inter airport Europe in Munich.  That was evident from the buzz in the halls which showcased a raft of latest innovations from ground equipment and airport terminal design and operations to airfield, fuelling and AI advances, all under one roof at Munich’s Messe during 7 to 9 October.

The hosted buyers (representing 23 countries including buyers from Tokyo, Vietnam and Uzbekistan airports) enjoyed exploring solutions designed to make handling passengers, baggage and cargo easier, safer, more sustainable.  This is the unique selling point of inter airport Europe, which in its 25th edition hosted 377 international suppliers of airport equipment, services and solutions.  The event was complemented by a diverse conference and seminar programme hosting over 40 expert speakers and panellists where the speeding digital transformation of airports, AI and tech solutions were a constant theme.

Over 75 of the 377 exhibiting companies launched a new product at the event. Highlights on the show floor included Smiths Detection’s next-generation high-speed CT scanner – the SDX 10080 SCT; ADB SAFEGATE’s AI: Airside Intelligence tool to enable remote monitoring and preventative maintenance and AviaSafe’s future-proof lighting solutions.

Inter airport 2025 delivers

Networking is crucial in this industry, the ability to get face to face with clients and colleagues at inter airport Europe delivered very direct conservations,” commented Dr Juergen Kappler, Director Portfolio, Aviation & Critical Infrastructure, Smiths Detection.

inter airport Europe 2025 was the perfect platform for AviaSafe to unveil our latest product innovations and BESPOKE® design options for 2026.  Three days of exclusive previews, expert demos, and collaborative discussions with industry professionals generated strong leads and fresh momentum for us,” commented Nick Zea-Smith, Sales and Marketing for AviaSafe.

The seminars were really important as we can learn from the experience of other airports and other companies to see what’s out there, what new,”commented Claudia Carra, Head of Master Planning, Authorizations and Accessibility at SEA Milan Airports.

If what you do is looking after the future of airports, inter airport Europe is a show you really can’t miss,” added Mohammad Taher, Founder and CEO, The Airport Guy.

Presentations and panel discussions by airport operators and their partners including Riga, Royal Schiphol, Bolonga, SEA Milan, CPK and Vietnam highlighted plans, objectives, implementation and successes of their airport projects. This included infrastructure, terminal design, adoption of new technology and equipment and improving the passenger experience. These sessions generated much interest from the attendees, keen to benefit from insights and inform their own upcoming projects.

A session on workforce saw panellists explore the benefits of digital versus scenario-based training, noting that while automation can enhance efficiency, it can’t replace the human touch. Another discussion on AI’s evolving role in elevating the passenger experience looked at how AI is being deployed across the terminal and airside operations to boost efficiency and operations for airports of all sizes. Examples ranged from Assaia’s ApronAI and Rezcomm’s AI roadmap for airports to the AI-driven systems currently being embedded in the construction of Poland’s new Centralny Port Komunikacyjny (CPK) Airport from launch to enable real-time monitoring and adjustment of flight schedules, runway and apron usage, passenger flows, ground handling, baggage systems and energy consumption.

Lauding innovation, this year’s inter airport Europe Innovation Awards celebrated both start-ups and established players for their groundbreaking solutions.  The winners were:  ADB SAFEGATE for its consistent contribution to the evolution of the airport; Imenco for its FuelSCAN Analyzer;  Leonardo SpA for its morphological analyzer of baggage, Bag Check AI; TK Airport Solutions S.A. for its fully remote operation and centralized monitoring of Passenger Boarding Bridges, Max Automate; S4GA for its Solar CAT I Airfield Lighting System, fully powered by solar energy and Outsight for its passenger flow management product Spatial Intelligence Platform.
