Jacksonville, FL (December 19, 2024): The City of Jacksonville unveiled a Proto hologram device at Jacksonville International Airport featuring the city’s Mayor, Donna Deegan greeting passengers as an AI hologram.
“It’s incredibly exciting to debut this message at JAX, and just in time for the holidays,” said Jacksonville Mayor Donna Deegan. “This continues the City of Jacksonville’s commitment to investing in cutting-edge technology that can be deployed in a myriad of ways to both improve communication, and better the lives of our citizens.”
The mayor — known for innovation – will greet travellers at JAX as a lifesize, 4K AI-powered  hologram speaking in English, Spanish, French, German and Japanese.
The project was created by AnuVision Technologies. Proto technology is also capable of letting the Mayor update her message via text at any time, add any additional language, beam in special VIP guests who could interact with travellers in real time, and be used as a touch screen and voice activated AI kiosk showing products, maps, and more.
The Proto unit is sponsored by JAXEPICS as the City of Jacksonville continues to drive to become the Small Business Capital Center of the South by streamlining the permitting process. The Mayor announced that additional Proto units will be installed downtown with AI Hologram avatars helping to navigate permitting.
Proto is the original, secure, hologram and spatial computing platform in use globally by Fortune 500 companies, top universities, major league sports, and across healthcare, hospitality and entertainment. Around Jacksonville, in partnership with AnuVision Technologies, Proto has been featured at Jaguars games, at the 2024 PGA Players Championship and at the University of North Florida. The first airport to install a hologram device was JFK in New York City, where Howie Mandel has beamed in to joke with passengers on the fly. More on Proto here.
“What better way to welcome people arriving in your city than to have the Mayor herself offering a greeting?” said David Nussbaum, Founder and Inventor of Proto Inc. “We’re so proud to be working with Anuvision Technologies in Jacksonville and Mayor Deegan. Proto has so much to offer airports including AI hologram avatars who can interact in any language, directory and shopping applications, and special guests beaming in to surprise fans. Congrats Jax!”
