SEATTLE – This update summarizes Port actions to maintain the health, safety, and well-being of our employees, travelers, and community as we prepare for our economy to re-open.

We recently launched a public dashboard to provide local governments and industries with key indicators each week to track the recovery at the airport. This tool will help to quantify the economic recovery.

Communities hit the hardest by coronavirus also experience the daily harms of systemic racism. The Port will continue to support its employees and communities who are dealing with the trauma of racism, and those who are interested in becoming better allies to people of color. We will continue to use our policy platforms and programs to create opportunities in historically underserved communities and to seek
ways we can reverse inequity. Black lives matter.

Some of our work has changed during the global pandemic, but our vision for this region as a globally competitive leader is stronger than ever. Our commitment to this vision is reaffirmed as we prepare our region to thrive in an equitable recovery.

Information changes rapidly. Please bookmark our COVID-19 Response webpage and check social media channels.

News to Know

  • New Financial Relief for Airport Dining and Retail Tenants: Port of Seattle Commissioners approved lease extensions for current airport, dining, and retail tenants by up to three years. The lease extensions give tenants more time to recover financially from the economic crisis brought on by the global pandemic. The lease extensions build on prior actions by the Port to stabilize local businesses and workers while continuing to provide essential trade and travel services.
  • Investment in Art Benefits Local Community: The Port invested $76,000 in 17 artworks by 15 different Pacific Northwest artists. Thirteen of those artists live in Washington state. These acquisitions will also dramatically increase the representation of women and minority artists. Ten of the 15 artists selected are women. Seven of those 15 artists are people of color, which doubles the minority artists now included in the SEA art collection.
  • Solidarity, Acceptance, and Flexibility Mark Pride Month: The Port-Wide Pride Employee Resource Group stands in solidarity with Black Lives Matter. As part of our commitment to diversity, equity, and justice issues, we revisited our priorities for the month of June to show full support to the conversations, meetings, and events hosted by the Port of Seattle Office of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion on systemic racism and its consequences and impacts. This is a collection of thoughts from our members, friends, and allies to share personal messages about Pride, acceptance, and how we will celebrate in the year of COVID-19.
  • FlyHealthy@SEA: Your safety, health and well-being are our priority, always. Stay up to date on actions to ensure the health and well-being of passengers, visitors and workers.
