Binghamton, NY – January 22, 2026 – McFarland Johnson, Inc. (MJ), a nationally recognized planning, engineering, and construction services consulting firm, is pleased to announce that David Edwards, former Chief Executive Officer of Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport (GSP), has joined the firm as an Executive Aviation Advisor.
In this advisory role, Edwards will support McFarland Johnson’s growing aviation practice with a focus on airport strategy, executive advisory services, and program management support for complex capital development initiatives. He will also provide strategic guidance in the continued advancement and future development of MJ’s AVIAS® aviation technology platform, helping ensure that the firm’s digital tools align with the evolving needs of airport owners and operators.
Edwards brings decades of executive-level leadership experience in airport management, governance, capital programming, stakeholder coordination, and long-range development planning. “Dave’s perspective as a former airport CEO and broad knowledge of the industry is invaluable,” said Chad Nixon, President and Chairman at McFarland-Johnson, Inc. “He understands firsthand the strategic, financial, political, and operational realities our airport clients face. His leadership will strengthen our advisory services and help guide the evolution of AVIAS® as a practical, decision-support platform for airports of all sizes.”
As an Executive Aviation Advisor, Edwards will work directly with airport sponsors, executive leadership teams, and MJ project staff to support strategic planning, governance and organizational assessments, capital program delivery, and future-focused airport development strategies. His involvement will also help bridge executive decision making with technical planning, ensuring solutions are both visionary and implementable.
“I’m excited to work with McFarland Johnson in this capacity and collaborate with a team that understands airports from both a technical and leadership standpoint,” Edwards said. “MJ’s focus on strategy, program execution, and technological innovation, particularly through the AVIAS® platform, aligns well with where the industry is headed.”
McFarland Johnson continues to expand its aviation advisory practice and technology-based infrastructure solutions as demand for integrated strategy, program management, and data-driven decision support grows across the airport industry.
