PHILADELPHIA, PA — June 19, 2025 — McFarland Johnson (MJ), a leader in planning, engineering, and design innovation, proudly announces the expansion of its Philadelphia office to accommodate the firm’s continued growth and project demand in the region. Coinciding with this exciting development, MJ is thrilled to welcome Edward (Ed) Hart, RCDD, as the National Practice Lead for Special Systems and Digital Integration within the Building Facilities Group.
Introducing Ed Hart: A Proven Leader in Special Systems and Integration
With more than two decades of experience in the IT and construction industries, Ed Hart joins MJ to lead and expand the firm’s national capabilities in Special Systems and Digital Integration. A Registered Communications Distribution Designer (RCDD), Ed brings deep technical proficiency in low-voltage infrastructure and complex systems design—ranging from LAN/WAN, structured cabling, and telecommunications to advanced airport information systems, access control, and digital signage networks.
“I’m excited to have Ed join the McFarland Johnson team,” added Kopec. “His combination of deep technical expertise and team leadership is exactly what we need to continue advancing innovative solutions in the aviation and transportation sectors, while deepening our strength in Special Systems.”
Ed’s understanding of industry standards such as BICSI, TIA, and IEEE, along with his knowledge of DOT, DHS, and aviation authority protocols, will significantly enhance MJ’s capabilities, particularly in Philadelphia—where he will help lead efforts tied to Philadelphia International Airport (PHL) and beyond.
Strategic Office Growth to Support Regional Momentum
The expanded Philadelphia office marks a significant milestone for MJ as it strengthens its presence in the Mid-Atlantic. Designed to support increasing staff levels and project activity, the enhanced space will foster greater collaboration and accommodate multidisciplinary teams supporting regional infrastructure projects—particularly those tied to the aviation and transportation sectors.
“Our growth in the Philadelphia market has been purposeful and steady,” said Jason Shevrin, Director of Technology and Leader of the Philadelphia Office at MJ. “This expansion enables us to better serve our clients, support our staff, and deliver the kind of innovative, integrated solutions McFarland Johnson is known for.”
