MELBOURNE, FL (September 13, 2022) – The Melbourne Orlando International Airport (MLB) is pleased to announce the arrival of Sunwing Airlines, offering new nonstop flights connecting three Canadian destinations with Central Florida. Sunwing Airlines will begin flights on December 10, 2022.

The new nonstop routes will feature service from three top Canadian locations to MLB:

“We are delighted to welcome Sunwing Airlines to the Melbourne Orlando International Airport,” said MLB Executive Director Greg Donovan. A.A.E. “The addition of Sunwing to our expanding list of air service partners is an incredible win for MLB and the greater Central Florida community. Through this new partnership, we are providing new international air service options, linking our convenient hometown airport with three major Canadian cities and welcoming thousands of travelers directly to our coastal gateway to Central Florida. It’s the perfect opportunity to connect visitors, relatives, and family.”

The announcement comes as MLB prepares to open its renovated and expanded terminal adding an additional 86,000 square feet of new facilities. With completion anticipated in the fourth quarter of 2022, the $72 million project will provide major upgrades to the customer experience at MLB, including additional food, beverage and retail offerings, an expanded international baggage claim, a welcome center, new service gates, and four new sets of bathrooms.

“We are thrilled to be returning to Florida this winter and, for the first time, offering direct flight service on board Sunwing Airlines to Melbourne beginning in December,” said Andrew Dawson, President of Tour Operations for Sunwing. “With the addition of weekly flights from Toronto, Winnipeg, and Halifax to Melbourne, we look forward to bringing Canadians to this sought-after destination located along Florida’s Space Coast.”

“We are incredibly excited about the new service being offered by Sunwing. It opens up an important market for us,” said Peter Cranis, Executive Director of the Space Coast Office of Tourism. “Canada is the number one country sending visitors to our area and now we have a great opportunity to serve them as they come directly to the Space Coast. We look forward to a long-lasting partnership.”

Sunwing Executive Vice President of Partner Development Eric Rodriguez adds, “Our partnership with MLB comes at a critical time as travelers plan their upcoming winter vacations. We are excited to provide them with even more opportunities to explore Florida with the addition of Melbourne to our product offering and are confident it will quickly become a favorite destination among Canadians.”
