Washington, DC (March 27, 2019) – Representative Sam Graves (R-MO), Ranking Member of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, introduced an amendment today to H.R. 1108, the Aviation Funding Stability Act of 2019.

The amendment, which would increase AIP contract authority in fiscal years 2020-2023 to $4 billion annually, was adopted and the bill was approved by voice vote.

Leaders in the aviation community welcome the amendment. Shelly Simi, President & CEO of the National Association of State Aviation Officials (NASAO), stated “NASAO commends the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee for passing H.R. 1108, Aviation Funding Stability Act of 2019, which will insulate the FAA from future government shutdowns and ensure that the important work of implementing the FAA Reauthorization Act of 2018 will continue without interruption.”

NASAO, together with other aviation associations, has issued an official Letter of Support for the amendment. “We were especially pleased to see the adoption of the amendment offered by Ranking Member Graves, which increases AIP contract authority in fiscal years 2020-2023 by $650 million annually. This was a huge step in the right direction for meeting the FAA identified need of $7 billion per year in AIP.”

H.R. 1108 now awaits consideration by the full House.
