(Minneapolis-St. Paul, MN – April 14, 2021) Nicholas Hinchley, CPA, CFE, has been named the Metropolitan Airports Commission’s (MAC’s) new finance director following a national search.

Hinchley has served as the MAC’s interim finance director since April 2020. Before that, he worked as accounting and finance manager for more than seven years.

“This past year has been a very challenging time financially for the air transportation industry, including airports, and we will experience more challenging years before we see a full recovery from the pandemic,” said Tim Simon, vice president of Finance and Revenue Development at the MAC.  “Nick has done a fantastic job as interim director for the past year, managing the budget, activity forecasts and revenue projections and ensuring the organization maintained a positive cash flow. His experience, dedication and leadership will serve the organization well as the industry recovers and we focus on operational and capital needs that had to be delayed due to the pandemic’s impact on airport revenues.”

Hinchley said, “I am excited for the opportunity to build on the incredible resiliency, collaboration and ingenuity MAC staff has shown during the pandemic, focusing on the success of the organization and the stability of our stakeholders and partners. We must continue to manage the MAC’s resources wisely, providing funding for safe, efficient operations as well as maintenance, rehabilitation and development of facilities for returning passengers and future growth.”

At the MAC, Hinchley oversees a 2021 operating budget of more than $300 million and a seven-year capital improvement program budget exceeding $2 billion.

Prior to joining the MAC in 2013, Hinchely worked as assistant controller at MLT Inc. and as audit manager at Boulay, P.L.L.P.

A native of Waseca, MN, Hinchley and his wife currently live in Eden Prairie, MN.
