Apr 30, 2024 | News

ORLANDO, FL. – As the Greater Orlando Aviation Authority (GOAA) closes the books on the 2019 fiscal year, ending in September, Orlando International Airport (MCO) records a 6.3 percent increase in total passengers.

“The 2019 fiscal year numbers are in line with what we have been expecting. We anticipated more passenger traffic, and more demands for enhanced amenities and excellent customer service,” says Phil Brown, Chief Executive Officer of the Greater Orlando Aviation Authority. “As a result, we continue to place an emphasis on our employee training and recognition programs and enhancing our facilities.”

Orlando International remains just shy of the 50 million annual passenger mark. September passenger numbers registered their first monthly decline in over two years because of Hurricane Dorian’s impact on airport operations for several days during the month.

During the fiscal year, MCO welcomed 5 new airlines including GOL, Swoop and EL AL.

Fiscal Year 2019 Statistical Data:

  • Domestic traffic climbed 5.15 percent with a total of 42,585,696 domestic passengers at Orlando International
  • International passenger traffic was up 13.61 percent with a total of 7,223,225 international arrivals and departures in fiscal year 2019
  • Combined, on a rolling 12-month basis, total traffic rose 6.3 percent with 49,808,921 total passengers

September 2019 Statistical Data:

  • For the month, thanks in part to Hurricane Dorian, domestic traffic slipped by 3 percent with a total of 2,717,103 passengers at MCO
  • International traffic also dipped by 2.3 percent with 481,053 passengers
  • Combined, overall traffic was off by 2.93 percent with 3,198,156 passengers
